Snippet (number 35)

“Stay with me?” the request bursts through my long held barriers as I kiss her petal soft mouth. I know what I want now, and it’s her, just her and me like it has been for this entire summer.

“Always,” the word drifts into my head along with a burst of love, and a image of Aella’s brilliant smile. “You’re not going to drive me away again Mass, I love you.”

I pour all my gratitude, relief, love and respect, everything that I feel for this tiny woman, who seems to funnel pure light through her very pores. She loves me in a way that I know I’m completely unworthy of, but that I can’t live without anymore. My arms tighten around her waist, and lift her off her feet.
