  • Wash from a basin of water with face cloths and Castile soap
  • Hair washed with lye (wood ash and water)
  • Mouthwashes of rosemary, myrrh, mastic and cinnamon
  • Pencils aka lipstick made by grinding down alabaster calcinate into powder
  • She had a wash once a month
  • Hung a pomander of cloves/nutmeg or cumin around their waist
  • ‘Sweet bags’ impregnated by perfume sewn into dresses or gloves
  • Stockings and shoes perfumed by ambergris
